Introducing my new creation "Felted Pierced Earrings".

Since I have lots of small (and big) left over woven pieces, I use them to make these.
I feel refreshing when I make these because I usually have to sit on a loom, but making these earrings don't matter where you are.


I can sit on a dining chair while I am waiting for hot water or something.....

Aren't they cute?

 

 


Chiaki entered a shawl and received 3rd premium at the 2009 Minnesota State Fair.

Chiaki's First Solo Exhibit in the U.S.
January 9 2009 - March 10 2009 at the SPACE a centre for creativity in New Richmond, WI. Chiaki's SAORI pieces will at their "Featured Artist" space.There will be "wearable hand-woven" items for sale. Some of her pieces will be at their "Celebrate Creativity" the winter gift show in Nov. 2008 and Dec. 2008.

Minnesota State Fair
A SAORI hand-woven wool shawl will be on display at the Minnesota State Fair for the first time. It will be in the Education Building. The State Fair is August 21 through September 1.

Update: August 21st, 2008 - A first-time entry by Chiaki for the "Weaving Shawl Category" under "Creative Activities" at the fair was awarded a Red Second Premium ribbon! The same entry also was given a blue ribbon for Best Use Of Colors by the Weavers Guild of Minnesota Award. (Click image for large photo)


08/15/2008 - Textile Center Holiday Show & Sale to Include SAORI Gift Items
It was announced today that for the first time the Textile Center 2008 Holiday Show & Sale in Minneapolis would be featuring hand-woven SAORI products including scarves and vests that are made in Minnesota.

06/04/2008 - Saori Weaving Instructor Visits Le Center, MN Public School
Le Center Public Schools partnered with VSA (Vision, Strength, Access) arts of Minnesota to host teaching artist Chiaki O'Brien and brought the creativity and free style of Saori weaving for a five day residency to the schools.
